Welcome to Drama at Willowfield

The pupils at Willowfield have recently been looking at storytelling in Year 8. They have learnt how to tell fairy tales using a range of drama skills, such as narration, mime, physical theatre and thoughts in the head. They have come up with some interesting work. Well done year 8!

In collaboration with the Art Department, David Primus, Sam Watchurst Govan, and Stephen Boyce from year 8, along with Crystal Spooner from year 9 had recently took part in an interactive art and drama presentation produced, written and directed by Ms Chamberlain. The pupils performed well, showing off their acting talents and entertaining pupils from each year group during Ms Chamberlain’s assembly on Empathy.
In key stage 4, year 11 pupils have recently completed a unit of work on Devising Drama. They came up with some interesting monologue performances featuring an unsuccessful superhero, a schizophrenic, Death, Stacy Chadwell, a murderer and a young woman who suffers from OCD. These were just some of the plays they presented and the External moderator was impressed with their work. They have achieved some excellent grades from this unit. Congratulations!

We hope to be visiting the theatre later in May 2010 to see “Pandora”, an off west end theatre stage production. We hope pupils will learn about drama practitioners and how to communicate with audiences.
